WHAT’S HAPPENING ON SUNDAY? Protest in the Park

We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday 22nd. Here’s what we are planning.

11.30. Meet at Ye Olde Fighting Cocks
With the numbers anticipated, we’ll likely gather to the east of the pub in the corner of the Abbey field. Stewards will be on hand to point you in the right direction. There will be a few words from John Pritchard, VVS Chairman. And a group photocall of all those who come.

12 noon. River of Blue. Now for the tricky bit…we’ll then move back towards the pub and form a river of blue from the front of the Fighting Cocks, over the bridge into the Park and on towards the stepping stones at the foot of the fish ladder. And even on down the dry river bed if enough supporters turn up. Hold hands/link arms to create a chain.
Stewards will encourage everyone to form an orderly line in as short as time as possible!

We’ve allocated a few photographers to move up and down the line to capture the show of support – please smile, look happy, wave banners, show the love. Share your own pics and use #riverver

12.30 onwards. We will be in the covered area in Ye Olde Fighting Cocks beer garden (thanks to landlord Christo) to answer questions, give more info. There are likely to be a few local councillors on hand too.

There is a leaflet that’ll be available on the day of 10 things you can do to help the river. We will put it on our website after the event if you don’t manage to get a copy.

BAD WEATHER
In the event of bad weather (thundery storms are forecast) we will be there. Please make your own assessment of the weather. We will still go for the group shot above all else – and celebrate that it’s raining. Then we’ll adjourn to the covered area in Ye Olde Fighting Cocks beer garden, where there’s room for 70+, to answer any questions, give more info. etc
